Prof. PAUL SCHOENSLEBEN, 1952, studied Mathematics and Operation Research at ETH Zurich. He obtained a Ph.D. degree in 1980. Several years of responsibilities for computer and organization departments of industrial companies followed. In parallel, he developed and introduced a PPC package, called Expert/400, that was used in practice until 2003. From 1983 to 1991 he was full professor for Business Informatics at the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland. Since 1991 he has been full professor for Industrial Engineering and Management at ETH Zurich, Swtzerland. From 2001 to 2005 he was Deputy and Head of the D-BEPR Department of Industrial and Production Management, later of the D-MTEC Department of Management, Technology, and Economics.

His research and teaching areas are logistics, operations and supply chain management, global service management and service innovation. These areas also include information management, TQM and process management. He is member of several boards of directors, as well as advisory boards.

Paul wrote several books, as well as numerous scientific and popular articles. The most important book Integral Logistics Management – Operations and Supply Chain Management Within and Across Companies”, was published in German by Springer, Germany, in 1998, (6th edition 2011), and in English, published in 2000 by CRC / Taylor & Francis Group / Auerbach (4th edition 2011). The 2nd edition of the book Integrales Informationsmanagement – Informationssysteme für Geschäftsprozesse – Management, Modellierung, Lebenszyklus und Technologie”, was also published by Springer in 2001.
