SCM and business success (small)

Motivation:
In recent years, Supply Chain Management (SCM) has been adopted for the management of inter-company logistics processes. The degree of adoption and the current issues change over time and also differ among small and medium sized companies and large enterprises. In the last five years, two studies on the current situation and trends of SCM in practice were conducted by the professorship.

Objectives:
In order to gain new insights into the current issues and status of implementation of SCM in industry, a new study has to be elaborated and conducted.

Activities completed:
A survey was designed on the topics of targets and strategies in SCM, best practices, collaboration (see the figure below as an example), risk management, contracts and benefit sharing, success and controlling of SCM. The survey was conducted in Switzerland and Germany. 51 responses were analyzed.
A brochure was published and distributed. Results were presented at conferences and in journals.
